John Firsts

Little John was a skeleton for his very first Halloween.

In other news...
John started giving kisses, pulls himself up on EVERYTHING, cruises along the furniture, fights sleep like no one's business, his favorite movie is Cars (STILL), and today he started saying "Ka" everytime he sees Lightning McQueen, who in our house is better known as Ka-chow Ka-chow.
(This boy is growing up way to fast for my liking!!)

Food Monster...

If I was to rate John's level of patience when it comes to food on a scale of 1 to 10 he would be at a -5. Let me explain...

Recently John has discovered how hands work. He realizes that he can use them to pull things toward his face and into his mouth, mostly this has just been his blanket. He has also started to put his hands on his bottle in an attempt to hold it himself, and he will sometimes actually get so frustrated that I'm holding it that he will pull my hands away. The problem with this is that his coordination isn't developed enough that he can hold it by himself all the way yet, so I normally have to lay him down and prop up his bottle. I keep a watchful eye on him, I promise. Now, when we were still in the hospital he wasn't a very good eater, at all. When we got home that all changed. He started eating like it was going out of style. His love of food combined with his newly-discovered hands have led to what I discovered him doing today: he has started using his hands to try to push his bottle farther into his mouth in an attempt to eat faster. I have a food-monster which isn't a huge problem now, but I fear how this will go once he is a growing teenager...

Mother's Day Followup

My very first Mother's Day has come and gone, so I thought that I would post it's happenings since I believe it was the best ever!

Cade made me dinner. He always makes me dinner, and since I can't cook, I always appreciate it. On special occasions though, it's a really good dinner. He made fish which since I was pregnant I have absolutely LOVED. (For those of you who don't know, I absolutely hated all sorts of seafood before. My liking of sushi was actually the first clue that I was pregnant. Thanks John!) On our anniversary it was catfish - this time it was COD. Let me just say while it was extremely delicious Cod stinks. It has that gross fishy smell and now my house smells like fish... ew.

Now, since John is only 12 weeks old, I expected nothing from him except his usual cuteness, however, in good baby fashion he surprised me. Saturday morning he rolled over onto his side by himself, so we expected that he would be rolling over in the next couple days. Sunday morning we were having our normal morning family time hanging out in bed for a little while and he rolled all the way over on his tummy! That alone was a pretty good present - his first time rolling over by himself. Little did I know, he had another surprise in store. Later on he gave me the best present I could have asked for - his first laugh! This laugh was complete with the hiccups which coincidentally happen to his Daddy every time he laughs. It's quite possibly the best thing I've heard, tied, of course, with the first time we heard his heartbeat.

I love my boys!
